Role Overview

This position manages the Battery Program and cell development activities in the Fisker Battery R&D group. The individual will possess an excellent knowledge of Li-ion batteries with direct experience managing a lithium-ion research and development program geared towards delivery of battery products. The candidate will also possess competencies in managing high throughput experimental program using methods related to cell electrochemistry development and interpretation of results using design of experiments. Candidate will be capable of working cross functionally with Application Engineering, Materials Development, Testing, and Process R&D functions of Fisker Inc.


  • Product definition, attributes and specification communication.
  • Business and Technical target setting and monitoring.
  • Steering supply chain establishment, sourcing, evaluation and nomination.
  • Timing control, planning, synchronization communication to all stake holders.
  • Financial overview control of spend based on both, Operational project and Capital Expenditure.
  • Project milestone and deliverable definition, planning, monitoring and reporting.
  • Project event management, technical reviews, Virtual process, Synchronization Activities.
  • Engineering, testing and validation resource management, team building, souring and contracts management.
  • Development program framework continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • PhD in electrochemistry, chemistry, analytical science, material science, polymer science, or engineering.
  • 3+years’ experience of working in R&D lab environment.
  • Strong electrochemical background and Li-ion battery experience are highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experiences in various analytical tools desired.
  • Hands-on experiences in assembling and testing cells using lithium metal anodes.
  • Experience of keeping data book and establishing lab document control system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Capability of training and supervising technicians and operational workers.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and in time-constrained situation.
  • Feel comfortable with multi-tasks.
  • Highly organized.

Additional Requirements

Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.
