Role Overview

  • Responsible for research, technical leadership and delivery of advance propulsion systems Technology development.
  • Accountability for Gateway delivery to program.
  • Custodian of component/system best practice and performance delivery.
  • Recruitment and manning vs. program requirements.
  • IT skilling, IT strategy for Centre of Competence specific tools.
  • Innovation strategy.
  • Investment planning for equipment and facilities.


You will provide overall leadership and coordination for all HV, Powertrain, Control Electronics Including application engineering and delivery of charging, energy storage and all related powertrain hardware and software. Managing direct reports, planning project delivery and reporting on progress. Ensuring on time delivery and working to the highest standards possible. This will involve working across technical specialties, adopting new processes and acting as the main point of contact for your specialist area. Technical ownership is expected for the following domains:

  • High Voltage Systems including charging, storage and HV distribution
  • Powertrain System Electronics.
  • Powertrain Components including all mechanical hardware up to driveshafts.
  • Functional Safety.
  • Vehicle Powertrain Performance – delivery of all vehicle level attributes associated with Performance.

Development and implementation of business plans, technology and R&D plans. Establish academic and government partnership / grant funding for all relevant research and development.
You will lead your team in technical discussions to deliver robust fault free designs through the application of Concurrent Engineering disciplines including DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Campaign Prevention Process, Robustness, etc.
Management and coordination of the project technical team to ensure products are delivered at a cost, quality and time appropriate for the application. 
Setting KPIs for each area of your responsibility and reviewing performance with contacts.
Performance Management, resource planning and succession planning working closely with HR/Talent Acquisition teams.

Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • A broad industry network and proven ability to interface at a senior / board level with customers and suppliers. 
  • Advance Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline. 
  • Proven, senior level experience in design of advanced powertrain systems for production, understanding their interfaces and integration into the vehicle. Ability to provide direction and resolution to technical issues. 
  • Experience leading the integration of multiple complex projects requiring interaction with numerous third parties and suppliers.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of new product introduction for new Battery Electrical Vehicle powertrain and vehicles.
  • Bringing excellent management capacity, Proven team management ability and experienced in developing and working in a fast-paced team.

Additional Requirements

Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.
