Role Overview:

This position executes advanced cell engineering within Fisker’s battery team.  The individual will possess a good working knowledge of Li-ion batteries, manufacturing methods, the chemical and physical properties of cell components and an aptitude for solving problems.  The candidate will also possess competencies in experimental methods related to cell electrochemistry and interpretation of results using design of experiments. Candidate will be capable of working cross functionally with Application Engineering, Materials Development, Testing, and Process R&D functions of Fisker Inc.



  • Cell engineering including functional optimization of the system (combinations of cathode, anode electrolyte, separator, and additives).  
  • Li-ion active materials, Slurry formulation, electrode manufacturing, cell assembly and testing.
  • Translate customers’ requirements into engineering specifications to develop a cell that meets/exceeds customer’s performance, cost and quality requirements.  
  • Meet with customers to communicate advantages of Fisker technology.
  • Apply DOE and other statistical tools and techniques to measure, analyze and improve and control assigned project processes.  Drive Best practices in FMEA and critical parameter development.
  • Keep abreast of research and issues through networking and conferences, and report on and evaluate emerging technology trends to strengthen Fisker’s competitive position.
  • Benchmark Fisker cell materials and design against competitor offerings.  
  • Facilitate transfer of new cell designs to manufacturing.
  • Act as subject matter expert for IP strategy development and execution.  Review published literature and patents.  
  • Plan and track projects to assume timely completion and achievement of project goals.  Report progress to leadership in timely basis


Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • Industry experience and minimum 2 Post Doc in electrochemistry, chemistry, analytical science, material science, polymer science, or engineering
  • 5+years experience of working in R&D lab environment
  • Strong electrochemical background and Li-ion battery experience are highly preferred
  • Hands-on experiences in various analytical tools desired
  • Experience of keeping data book
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Capability of training and supervising technicians and operational workers
  • Willingness to work under pressure and in time-constrained situation
  • Feel comfortable with multi-tasks

Additional Requirement:

Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.
